This Italian-American favorite delivers a burst of flavors, great for a cozy dinner or fancy lunch. Pair it with crunchy bread or pasta, and you'll make everyone happy no matter the occasion.

Why This Dish Shines

These Scampi Shrimp showcase simple, fresh ingredients that balance richness and zest perfectly. Garlic and shallots add deep flavor, while lemon juice and white wine bring a tangy contrast. With a hint of red pepper for warmth, this dish shows how Gordon Ramsay turns a standard recipe into something amazing.

What You'll Need

  • Shrimp: 450g large shrimp, peeled and cleaned.
  • Butter and Olive oil: 45g each, creating a rich, balanced base.
  • Shallots and Garlic: 60g shallots and 2 minced garlic cloves.
  • White wine: 120ml good quality for the sauce.
  • Lemon juice: 60ml freshly squeezed.
  • Parsley: 60g fresh, finely chopped.
  • Red pepper: 1g flakes.
  • Salt and Pepper: To taste.

Step-by-Step Guide

Season your shrimp
Pat the shrimp dry and add some salt and freshly ground pepper.
Cook the shrimp
Heat up 30g butter and 30g olive oil on medium-high heat. Cook the shrimp about 2 minutes per side until they turn pink. Set aside.
Get the flavors going
In the same pan, add the remaining butter and oil. Cook shallots and garlic for about 2 minutes.
Make your sauce
Pour in white wine, lemon juice, parsley and red pepper flakes. Bring to a boil and let it reduce by half.
Finish and serve
Put the shrimp back in the pan, coat with sauce. Warm for 2 minutes and serve hot with bread or pasta.

Tips for Success

Always go for fresh shrimp, fresh garlic, fresh lemons and fresh parsley for the best taste. Don't overcook your shrimp, take them out as soon as they turn pink. Pick a white wine you'd actually drink. Taste your sauce while cooking and adjust the seasoning. Add the shrimp back at the end so they soak up all those flavors.

Tasty Pairings

Enjoy these Scampi Shrimp with al dente pasta, fluffy rice or crusty bread for dipping. For a lighter meal, add a crisp green salad or roasted asparagus. A cool glass of Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio works wonderfully with this dish.

Frequently Asked Questions

→ Which white wine works best?
Go for a dry white like Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc. Use something tasty, so the sauce gets a rich flavor.
→ Can I use frozen shrimp?
Sure, just thaw them fully and pat them dry. Fresh shrimp taste a bit better, but frozen ones work too.
→ How do I know if the shrimp are ready?
Shrimp are done when they turn pink and curve into a C shape. Cooking for 2-3 minutes per side should do the trick.
→ What sides go well with this?
Fresh pasta or rice will soak up the sauce just right. Crusty bread is awesome for mopping up extra sauce too.
→ My sauce is too thin. How can I fix it?
Let it simmer longer over low heat to thicken. Skip flour or starch—they'll mess with the silky texture.
