Gooey Chocolate Bars (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 2 cups + 1/4 cup plain flour.
02 - A teaspoon of baking soda.
03 - A teaspoon of regular salt.
04 - 1 cup of softened butter.
05 - 3/4 cup white sugar.
06 - 3/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed.
07 - 1 teaspoon vanilla essence.
08 - 2 large eggs.
09 - 2 cups of chocolate chips (semi-sweet).
10 - 5 oz of evaporated milk.
11 - 14 oz of soft caramels.
12 - 1/2 cup peanut butter, smooth.

# Instructions:

01 - Set your oven to 375°F and prepare a 9x13-inch baking dish with grease.
02 - Combine dry stuff in one bowl. Beat butter, sugars, and vanilla until creamy, then work in the eggs. Stir in the dry mix and fold in the chocolate chips.
03 - Put half the dough in the dish and bake for 8 to 10 minutes.
04 - In a double boiler, melt the caramels with the milk. Stir in peanut butter and pour this over the baked base layer.
05 - Spoon the rest of the dough in blobs over the caramel layer. Bake for 15–20 minutes until golden on top.

01 - Go with a double boiler to melt caramels smoothly.
02 - You can prep this dish in advance.
03 - Let it cool down fully before you slice it.
