Stir the baking powder and flour together in a small dish, then set it aside.

Whip softened butter until fluffy. Beat in sugar, eggs, and almond flavoring until smooth but not fully blended.

Pour in the dry mix, stirring lightly until it just comes together. Chill dough for 60 minutes or longer.

Using a tablespoon or small scoop, roll the dough into small balls. Space them out an inch apart on a baking tray lined with parchment.

Pop them into a 350°F oven and cook for about 8-10 minutes. The edges should be set but avoid overcooking. Let them cool fully.

Gradually mix powdered sugar with milk until it becomes a thick glaze. Stir in almond flavor.

Glaze the cooled cookies by dipping the tops, then set on a rack to let the excess fall off. Sprinkle on the nonpareils while wet.
