Valentine's Cookie Bars (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Base Layer

01 - 2 tablespoons Valentine sprinkles to mix in
02 - 1 teaspoon baking soda
03 - 1 cup granulated white sugar
04 - 1/2 cup butter, softened
05 - 2 eggs, large
06 - 1 teaspoon vanilla
07 - 1/4 teaspoon salt
08 - 2 cups all-purpose flour

→ Topping

09 - 1 tablespoon candy hearts or red M&Ms
10 - 1/4 cup Valentine sprinkles to sprinkle on top
11 - 1 tub of Duncan Hines frosting (white)

# Instructions:

01 - Set the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8-inch square baking dish with parchment paper to easily lift out later.
02 - Mix your dry ingredients in a big bowl first. Then toss in the softened butter, eggs, and vanilla. Blend until it forms a smooth dough. Gently stir in the Valentine sprinkles so they're evenly spread out.
03 - Press the dough evenly into the parchment-lined pan, making sure it fills the corners. Pop it in the oven for 15-20 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean from the center. Let it cool all the way before moving on to the next step.
04 - Once cooled, spread a thick layer of frosting with a knife or spoon. Sprinkle with Valentine sprinkles and arrange candy hearts or M&Ms on top. Slice into squares, about 2 inches each, and serve.

# Notes:

01 - You can save time by swapping homemade dough for store-bought sugar cookie dough.
02 - Chill the dough for 10-15 minutes to help it bake more evenly.
03 - Get creative with your toppings! Try mini chocolate chips or heart-shaped candies.
04 - Wait until the bars have completely cooled before frosting to avoid a mess.
