Spooky Sugar Cookies (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 1½ cups granulated sugar.
02 - 2 tsp vanilla extract.
03 - 3 cups all-purpose flour.
04 - 1 tsp baking powder.
05 - ½ tsp salt.
06 - 1 tsp orange gel food coloring (electric orange).
07 - 1 cup butter, softened.
08 - 2 large eggs.
09 - 1 tsp black gel food coloring (super black).
10 - Optional: fun Halloween sprinkles.

# Instructions:

01 - Grab a bowl and stir together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set that aside for later.
02 - In a large bowl, whip the softened butter with sugar until it's nice and creamy. Add eggs and vanilla, then continue mixing until well-combined.
03 - Slowly pour the dry mix into the butter mixture. Mix everything together until smooth and lump-free.
04 - Split the dough into two halves. Add black coloring to one half, orange to the other, and mix until you achieve solid, even colors. Clean your tools after each color.
05 - Flatten each colored dough into rectangles, wrap with plastic, and let them chill in the fridge for 1-2 hours.
06 - Roll both doughs out to about ⅛-¼ inch thickness. Place the orange dough at the bottom and stack the black dough on top. Neaten the edges if needed.
07 - If you’d like, brush the dough’s sides with a bit of water and stick Halloween sprinkles to them.
08 - Carefully roll the layered dough into a log. Wrap it with plastic wrap and refrigerate it for an hour or longer.
09 - Set your oven at 350°F to preheat. Slice the dough log into ¼-½ inch circles and spread them on a sheet lined with parchment paper, keeping a couple of inches between each piece.
10 - Pop the cookies in the oven for 10-12 minutes, or until they’re no longer shiny on top.

# Notes:

01 - You can freeze these cookies for up to three months and enjoy them later.
02 - Try switching up the colors—purple or green would be super fun for Halloween!
