Fill a big pot with water, sprinkle in some salt, and bring it to a boil. Toss in the pasta, and halfway through cooking, throw in the peas. Stop cooking it about a minute before the recommended time for firm pasta.

Heat olive oil in a wide pan over medium-high heat. Add the onion and the bacon. Stir it until the bacon crisps up a bit and the onion softens.

Once the pasta and peas are drained, toss them straight into the pan with the onion and bacon. Set the heat to medium and pour in the cream. Add more cream if it looks too dry.

Serve it right away while it's still hot. Let everyone choose how much cheese they want to sprinkle on top.
