Turn your oven on to 180°C and let it heat up. Beat the egg yolks and sugar until the mix looks pale. Sift in the flour and baking powder, then mix together.

With a pinch of salt, whip the egg whites until they form stiff peaks. Gently fold them into the batter without deflating it.

Spread the batter evenly over a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake it for about 10-12 minutes until it has a light golden color.

Flip the warm sponge onto a damp, clean towel. Peel off the parchment paper and carefully roll the sponge up with the towel. Let it cool down this way.

When the sponge has cooled, unroll it carefully. Spread Nutella evenly all over it. Gently roll it back up tightly.

Place the roll on a serving dish, dust it with powdered sugar, and sprinkle optional hazelnuts or chocolate shavings. Chill it for 30 minutes before slicing.
