Wash 4 jars and their lids with soapy warm water. Dry them off with a towel.

Blend seeds from fresh fruit, then strain the juice if that’s your choice.

Add juice, pectin, and butter (if using) to a large pot. Bring the mix to a boil.

Place the cleaned jars in hot water to warm them up.

Pour in all the sugar at once. Stir and bring back to a boil. Let it cook for 2 and a half minutes.

Take the pot off the heat. Remove the bubbles sitting on top.

Fill the warmed jars, leaving 1/4 inch at the top. Wipe the rims and put the lids on.

Boil the filled jars for 10 minutes with water covering them. Let cool to seal completely.
