French Toast Casserole (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter
02 - 1 pound of either Italian or sourdough bread
03 - 8 large eggs
04 - 3 cups of half-and-half
05 - 3/4 cup light brown sugar
06 - 1 tablespoon vanilla
07 - 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
08 - 3/4 teaspoon of kosher salt
09 - 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
10 - 2 ounces of chopped nuts
11 - 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
12 - Maple syrup for topping
13 - Fresh berries to garnish

# Instructions:

01 - Spray a 9x13 dish with non-stick spray
02 - Rip the bread into small chunks and place in the dish
03 - In a bowl, whisk together eggs, half-and-half, brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, salt, and nutmeg until blended
04 - Pour the custard over bread, press down gently, cover, and chill overnight
05 - Combine nuts, flour, sugar, spices, and butter, mixing until crumbly
06 - Put crumble on top, bake at 350°F for 45-50 minutes until golden brown

# Notes:

01 - You can assemble this up to a full day ahead of time.
02 - Let the mixture soak for a minimum of 1 hour.
03 - Switch up the bread or nuts to make it your own!
