01 - 8 ounces (half loaf) of crusty French bread, diced.
02 - Half a cup of melted butter.
03 - Packed brown sugar, 1 cup.
04 - Six eggs, large size.
05 - Two cups of whole milk.
06 - Vanilla extract, two teaspoons.
07 - Cinnamon, split (2 teaspoons total).
08 - A tablespoon of brown sugar to sprinkle on top.
09 - Optional: powdered sugar to finish.

# Instructions:

01 - Set your oven to 425°F. Grease up a baking dish (13x9 inches).
02 - In a small pan, stir butter and brown sugar together on low heat until smooth. Spread the mixture into the baking dish.
03 - Scatter the bread pieces evenly over the buttery sugar mixture in the pan.
04 - Beat the eggs, milk, vanilla, and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon in a bowl. Pour the mix over the bread, making sure it soaks everything.
05 - Sprinkle the remaining cinnamon and brown sugar over the top.
06 - Bake for 25-30 minutes until the top is golden and crispy. If you like, give it a sprinkle of powdered sugar before serving.

# Notes:

01 - Stale bread works best—it gives a better bite!
02 - You can prep this the evening before.
03 - Keeps great in the freezer for up to 3 months.
