04 - Potatoes - 400 g
05 - One red bell pepper (~100 g)
06 - Mushrooms - 150 g

→ Sauce & Seasoning

07 - Canned crushed tomatoes - 300 g
08 - Vegetable or beef broth - 100 ml
09 - A couple tablespoons of olive oil
10 - A teaspoon of paprika
11 - Dried oregano - one teaspoon
12 - Salt - to taste
13 - Pepper - to taste

→ Toppings

14 - Grated cheese (cheddar, mozzarella) - 200 g
15 - Fresh parsley - optional garnish

# Instructions:

01 - Set your oven to 180°C and let it preheat. Lightly coat a baking dish with olive oil so the food doesn’t stick.
02 - Heat up olive oil in a big pan. Sauté the onion and garlic until they soften and become see-through. Toss in ground meat and cook until browned. Season with oregano, paprika, salt, and pepper. Add mushrooms and bell peppers, letting them cook for about five minutes.
03 - Pour in the crushed tomatoes and broth. Stir well and let the mixture simmer gently for ten minutes so it thickens, and the flavors meld together.
04 - Slice the potatoes thinly into rounds—aim for about 2 mm thickness for even cooking.
05 - Start with a layer of potatoes at the bottom of the baking dish. Spread half of the meat and veggie mix on top. Repeat with another potato layer and the rest of the filling. Finish with a top layer of potatoes.
06 - Cover everything with plenty of grated cheese. Wrap the dish with foil, then bake it for 45 minutes.
07 - Take off the foil and put the dish back in the oven for another 15 minutes. You’re looking for the cheese to turn golden and the potatoes to get tender.
08 - Let the dish rest briefly before scooping it onto plates. Sprinkle it with chopped parsley if you’d like, and serve while warm.
