Beef Mongolian Noodles (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 10 ounces spaghetti or linguine.
02 - 1 pound of ground beef, lean.
03 - 4 teaspoons minced fresh ginger.
04 - 6 garlic cloves, finely chopped.
05 - 1/2 cup of dark brown sugar.
06 - 1/2 cup of broth made from beef.
07 - 1/2 cup soy sauce, low-sodium.
08 - 4 tablespoons of hoisin sauce.
09 - 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper.
10 - Optional: 1/2 teaspoon red chili flakes.
11 - 1 tablespoon of cornstarch.
12 - 2 tablespoons of water, cold.
13 - 4 green onions, chopped.

# Instructions:

01 - Cook the ground beef in a wide pan until browned.
02 - Throw in the garlic and ginger in the last couple of minutes. Stir and chop the meat into small bits.
03 - Boil the noodles, skipping the salt.
04 - Remove grease from beef, then put it back in the pan.
05 - Pour beef broth, soy sauce, brown sugar, hoisin, black pepper, and chili flakes into the beef. Mix well.
06 - Combine water with cornstarch. Add to the pan, then give it time to thicken while cooking.
07 - Put the cooked, drained pasta with the beef. Stir so it soaks up the sauce. Rest for a few minutes.
08 - Sprinkle with green onions before serving.

# Notes:

01 - Takes about 30 minutes start to finish.
02 - Sweetness is adjustable by cutting down the sugar.
03 - Using low-sodium options can help manage salt.
04 - Tastes great with extra veggies thrown in.
