Turn on oven to 425F/220C or set the broiler to high. Position the rack about 12 inches/30cm from the flame or heat source.

Lay the beans on a baking sheet. Pour on 1 tablespoon of oil, sprinkle with garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix till everything's coated evenly.

Arrange the beans into tidy rows, making sure they're snuggled close together.

Scatter the breadcrumbs and parmesan across the beans. Pour the last tablespoon of oil over them.

Pop it in the oven for 15 minutes or broil for around 8 minutes, just until the parmesan turns golden.

Slide a spatula underneath, move them to a plate, and serve right away.
