Crispy Onion Air Fry (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Blooming Onion

01 - 1 big Vidalia onion (sweet)
02 - 1 tsp garlic powder
03 - 1 tsp paprika
04 - ½ tsp black pepper
05 - ½ cup buttermilk
06 - 1 cup plain flour
07 - 1 tbsp hot sauce
08 - 1 tsp onion powder
09 - 1 tsp salt
10 - 2 large eggs
11 - Cooking oil spray (olive oil)

→ Yum Yum Sauce

12 - ¼ tsp garlic powder
13 - ¼ cup ketchup
14 - 1 tbsp mirin (or water)
15 - 1 tbsp butter (unsalted and melted)
16 - ½ cup mayo
17 - ¼ tsp onion powder

# Instructions:

01 - Slice 8-12 cuts from onion top, but stop at the base. Gently pull the layers apart to make it bloom.
02 - Dust with seasoned flour first, then dip in egg-buttermilk mix, and coat again with flour.
03 - Spritz with oil and air fry at 375°F for 12-15 minutes.
04 - Blend all sauce ingredients together until smooth. Serve it alongside the onion (partially cooled).

# Notes:

01 - Placing the onion in ice water helps the petals fan out.
02 - Dry it completely before coating to get a good texture.
