Coat a 20x20 cm baking dish with plenty of butter. Spread out the sliced potatoes evenly.

Warm up the milk, cream, mustard, salt, nutmeg, and pepper on medium heat.

Stir in the cheddar cheese until it melts smoothly into the mixture.

Pour the warmed sauce over the potatoes. Let it cool down a bit, then add the butter slices and give it a sprinkle of paprika.

Cover it up and store in the fridge for at least 12 hours or overnight.

Heat your oven up to 175°C and bake it uncovered for about 45 minutes.
