Use a mixer to whip together butter, eggs, and the 2 cups of sugar until fluffy and smooth. Slowly pour in buttermilk, then add the baking soda and flour, mixing lightly until it’s all together.

Scoop a little less than half the batter into two greased loaf pans. In a separate bowl, stir the cinnamon and sugar together. Spread about three-quarters of this mixture over the batter in both pans.

Put the rest of the batter on top of the cinnamon layer in both pans. Sprinkle the last of the cinnamon sugar on top, then lightly swirl everything with a knife for a marbled look.

Place the pans in an oven preheated to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 45 to 50 minutes. They’re done when a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out without batter. Let the loaves cool in the pans for 20 minutes before carefully taking them out.
