08 - Two large eggs
09 - 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
10 - Half a cup of cooking oil
11 - One cup of full-fat milk

→ Filling and Topping

12 - A couple of cups of cherry pie filling
13 - Half a cup of chocolate chips
14 - 2 tablespoons of powdered sugar
15 - A teaspoon of vanilla extract
16 - 1 cup of whipped cream

# Instructions:

01 - Set your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prep two 9-inch round pans with grease and a dusting of flour.
02 - Mix together cocoa powder, sugar, flour, baking powder, salt, and baking soda in one large bowl.
03 - Toss eggs, vanilla, milk, and oil into the bowl. Beat for 2 minutes at medium speed. Stir in hot water last—it'll look runny.
04 - Pour batter into your pans. Bake the cakes for 30-35 minutes. Stick a toothpick in to check—it should come out nice and clean. Cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then move to wire racks to cool fully.
05 - Once they're completely cool, slice each cake horizontally so you end up with four thin layers.
06 - Use a medium bowl to whisk together heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla. Beat them until you see stiff peaks.
07 - Start stacking: add a layer of cake to a serving plate, then spread 1/2 cup of cherry filling on top. Do this for all the layers, one by one.
08 - Cover the cake's sides and top with whipped cream. Sprinkle some chocolate chips and cherries on top if you'd like.
